In studying some microRNA’s and their role in multiple myeloma, these researchers identified that miR137 has substantial effects in affecting apoptosis and drug resistance. Overexpression of miR137, when assays by our Apoptosis Array G1, resulted in several pro apoptosis markers being significantly upregulated, while some markers of apoptosis inhibition were down regulated. Together with their other genetic findings they identified and confirmed the importance of silencing miR137 in multiple myeloma patients, and identified a potential target for reducing drug resistance in apoptosis induction.
This paper uncovers the signaling pathways involved in phosphatase of regenerating liver-3 (PRL-3), it’s role in hyperactivation of EGFR, and the addiction of the cells to this stimulation.  Using the RTK Phosphorylation Array to uncover this signaling cascade has allowed for PRL-3 levels to be a potential predictive efficacy marker of anti-EGFR based therapies.
